As a CSR activity for M/s Fiat India automobiles ltd, the project located at Taluka place of Shirur, demanded a small, rehabilitation and training center along with a multiactivity hall approached by children from nearby villages. The functions of counselling, physiotherapy, eye checkup were defined to be accommodated along with a lecture hall.
On the available piece of land touching a small government clinic, and located in the premises of the district hospital, the design was conceived accommodating trees extant on the site.
The built mass housing multiple functions is arranged around the trees creating a central open courtyard, seamlessly integrating the trees-large and small, with the built mass.
Designing a structure in a way to make a mature copper pod tree an integral part of the complex, linking the new structure with the old health clinic through creation of small courtyard are the design highlights. The application of a light beige hue to the plastered walls harmoniously blends the new structure with the old.
